Hello!

beginnings my story new business

Hello and thank you for visiting our site!

There is a detailed story as to why I began E Nestor Products in the "About Us" section, but it doesn't cover what has happened since.  [Spoiler alert: while I have become very competent with a sewing machine, it didn't start out that way!]

My goal was to have a project that supported a cause I deeply believe in, children's literacy. I love making things and decided to focus on ceiling fan pull chains and chandelier charms. When I first began, I was selling a few items a month, nothing to write home about.

When our world was changed forever, I began getting emails asking people who were able, to make masks. My mom was a great seamstress and tried to teach me to sew, but I was never interested. However, when these pleas were coming in, I thought, "I can do that" and ordered a sewing machine.

Fabric was very difficult to get and my sewing machine arrived about three weeks before my back-ordered fabric. I was terrified of that thing and it sat in my garage unopened.

The day my fabric arrived I couldn't put it off any longer. I knew nothing and watched a lot of online tutorials. My first attempts weren't great, but I was determined to improve. I finally felt competent enough to list some on my website but I was unprepared for what happened next.

I will never forget that night. I had listed a few masks earlier that day and my husband and I were home watching a movie. All of a sudden, my phone started blowing up. Order after order was coming in and I was just stunned and terrified! Was I going to be able to pull this off?!

I did pull it off and began making dog bandanas, when I realized that mask making wasn't for me.

My sewing machine doesn't scare me anymore and we've become quite good friends. It's funny how one's life can change course in an instant. I have met so many wonderful people and their four-legged best friends, none of whom I would have otherwise, and I am so thankful for that! I'm also thankful that I will never, ever make another mask. Ever. :)
